The Frederick County School Board will hold a public hearing during its meeting at 7 p.m. on December 17 in the James Wood Middle School Library on how to appropriately honor and memorialize those buried on the site where the replacement Robert E. Aylor Middle School is being built. The 10 unknown and abandoned gravesites discovered on the school site are believed to have been part of the Reed family cemetery.

Several graves believed to be part of the Reed family cemetery have been discovered on the site where the replacement Robert E. Aylor Middle School is being built. In an effort to be respectful and complete its due diligence, the school divison is working with the appropriate agencies in considering its options. Based on what is known at this time, the discovery will not impact plans to construct the school or delay the school's opening in August 2021.
